With the Bitumen market expected to grow in coming years, IPL has worked with regulatory bodies, suppliers and customers to gain a comprehensive understanding of product specifications and have expanded their Bitumen testing capabilities.
Increased infrastructure development and additional vehicles on roads has led to the adoption of performance based M1-A specifications in New Zealand. IPL have developed our bitumen testing suite to include the additional testing required to meet these specifications.

The bitumen testing we provide is part of our customers’ Quality Assurance plans to ensure the bitumen manufactured or imported into NZ complies with M1-A specs.
The required testing includes:
- ASTM D2872 - Rolling Thin Film Over Test (RFTOT)
- AASHTO T315 - Rheology of Asphalt and Bitumen by DSR
- AASHTO T350 - Dynamic Shear Rheometer
- ASTM D6521 - Accelerated Aging of Asphalt Binder
