All testing services are available locally, at very competitive prices and with fast turn-around times without compromising the quality of results provided. Below is a brief overview of the services we can deliver:

 Petroleum products: We provide full testing services on the following samples: Crude oils, Naphtha, Diesel, Aviation fuels- both Jet A-1 and Aviation Gasoline, Petrol, Fuel Oil, Asphalt and Bitumen. IPL also offers testing of other petrochemical-based products. We are now able to meet the specific needs of Upstream (exploration stage) and Downstream (refining stage) fuels in the petrochemical industry.


 Biofuels testing: Provider of an extensive range of biofuel analysis, IPL has a wealth of knowledge in the biofuels sphere. We perform testing to ensure your product meets the Regulations and guidelines and provide quality assurance to the supply chain.






 Environmental : Environmental testing is often required for consent monitoring, identification of trends, problem solving, substance disposal and discharge consent. IPL has developed a range of testing to suit your needs.






 Contamination/PuritTesting: IPL’s expert staff can assist with problem solving analysis on a wide variety of substances. We can use a range of instrumentation to identify, for example, contamination, or to assess the purity of a substance.




 Training: IPL offers a range of test method auditing and training, Health and Safety and HSNO training tailored for laboratories and Terminal facilities in New Zealand and the South West Pacific. “Train the Trainer” courses are also available on request to ensure your in-house training is effective and efficient. 




 Calibration & Maintenance Services: Calibration services are offered on a wide range of laboratory equipment. A repair and maintenance service is also available to ensure your equipment is performing at its best.






 Mercury: Monitoring Mercury levels can help avoid significant cost linked to equipment failure and help ensure that exposure levels are minimised. IPL has developed and validated methodology that precisely and accurately measures mercury in light hydrocarbons and condensates to a limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.20 ppt (ng/kg).




 Laboratory Management: IPL can manage all or part of your laboratory operations to meet your industry requirements and quality standards.








Chemical Testing: IPL can analyse a wide variety of chemicals such as different fire fighting foams.

Testing for Performance Specification of Asphalt Binders (M1-A)

The NZTA M1-A specification sets out the performance characteristics to be met by the binders used for asphalt manufacture, which will replace the previous NZTA M1 specification. IPL has worked with NZTA, Suppliers and customers to gain a good understanding of this new specification and has expanded its Bitumen testing capability to meet the suppliers and customers new M1-A testing requirements.

2018 WITT Taranaki Science and Technology Fair

Another year full of successful project entries for the WITT Taranaki Science and Technology Fair. Our lovely Pam Chung attended the event and also helped judge the projects on display. Pam was truly amazed by the level of detail and the precision of the scientific processes followed by some of the participants. “I thought the kids did a great job at noting down and presenting evidence of their work at each step of their investigation”.
