We use a range of techniques to identify and quantify unknowns in liquid and solid hydrocarbon matrices.
ICP-OES: We use ICP to determine metal concentrations to ppm levels in liquid hydrocarbon, biofuel and aqueous matrices. We have a range of test methods available to meet customers needs.
GC-MS: GC-MS is a powerful problem solving tool for identification of unknown compounds. It is capable of both qualitative and quantitative analysis to ppb concentration.
GC-FID: We have a range of GC’s dedicated to a variety of testing. For example, we can determine the composition of gas samples including C1-C6 hydrocarbons and permanent gases. We can use DHA/SIMDIS to characterise hydrocarbons from C14-C120 and from C1-C6 by front end GC analysis. The Reformulyzer GC quantitatively determines saturates, olefins, aromatics and oxygenates in spark ignition engine fuels by multidimensional gas chromatography.
FTIR: FTIR can be used qualitatively to elucidate functional groups present in a sample in a given range (typically 400 – 4000 nm). We can also use FTIR to quantify the percent volume of fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) in diesel and biodiesel blends.
